Dance Studios
To start, run and grow a successful dance school requires numerous factors to work hand in hand.
Two of the most important factors are students who are eager to learn how to dance and professionally qualified dance teachers who are able to teach in a fun, safe and appropriate manner.
Finding dance students can be difficult so each student should be motivated to continue learning for a long period of time.
The WDTA has developed a curriculum that enables dance schools to offer professionally designed and structured classes to students of different age groups and skill levels.
The curriculum is structured in a way to guide students from the Beginner level to the Intermediate and Advanced level. After passing these levels, students can then continue with the Bronze, Silver and Gold level. Each of these levels include an examination and after successful completion a certificate and a needle of honour.
To offer the WDTA curriculum dance studios need to be members of and accredited by the WDTA.
Accredited dance studios can use the WDTA logo to enhance their competitiveness and to display their membership to the general public.
Membership in the WDTA also gives dance studios unparalleled access to a pool of professionally qualified dance teachers, workshops and master classes for the continuing education and training of their dance teachers and dance students.

Dance Teacher
For a long time people believed, that being a good dancer also meant being a good teacher.
Luckily, nowadays, this myth has been identified as just that – a myth!
While dancers (and dance students) focus all their energy on acquiring the skills so that they can perform consistently well, dance teachers need to know how they can get different students with different abilities to learn how to execute different movements and actions as well as possible.
The problems here are:
- What works well for one student might not work at all for another student.
- Experienced dancers, especially "natural dancers" perform complex movements based on their feeling and very often without knowing exactly how they did it.
This fine as far as performing is concerned but this is of no use to an aspiring dancer or dance student. This is also of no use to a teacher of dance who wants to teach students how to execute these movements.
Detailed and careful analysis of each action and a thorough understanding of the mechanics of the human body are just as important elements as knowledge of the psychology of learning and knowing which movements are suitable for students of different age groups and skill levels.
Knowing how to structure a dance class, the didactic of teaching and learning and a variety of teaching methods are all very important aspects of successful teaching.
Good teachers of dance have acquired these and other teaching skills in addition to their own dancing skills.
The WDTA provides high level professional training and qualifications that go far beyond the traditional.
We provide aspiring dance teachers with everything they need for a successful career as a professional dance teacher. To find out more about WDTA membership or to become a member today CLICK HERE.
Dance Student
If you are anything like many other students of dance, then you want to learn in a fun and friendly environment.
While this is very important, it’s also very important to learn in a safe environment, i.e. in an environment that minimizes the risks of injury.
As students of dance improve, they also realize the importance of learning the correct technique right from the start in order to avoid having to unlearn incorrect and potentially harmful habits in the future.
In other words, what students of dance need is a Quality Teaching Environment.
But how do you know where to find such a quality teaching environment?
This is where the WDTA comes in.
